Long Beach in Kommetjie, on the Atlantic side of the Cape Peninsula about 40 minutes from central Cape Town, is one of the most consistent beach breaks in the Cape. Sandbanks pick up southwest swell and serve up punchy peaks, with the lefts usually the more reliable, best on low to mid tide in south to southeast winds. The water is cold, so bring a thick wetsuit, and the Inner and Outer Kom reefs and big-wave spots are just around the corner. Best for intermediates and up.
