Jeffreys Bay is one of the best right-hand point breaks on the planet, with Supertubes as its fastest and most perfect section. Long, rifling walls and barrels peel down a rock and sand point for hundreds of metres when Southern Ocean groundswells line up. A longtime WSL Championship Tour stop, it suits intermediate to expert surfers, with the outer and inner sections offering easier waves. Best from June to September, when westerly winds blow offshore.

Cheron returned to Jeffreys Bay in 1978 after a trip to India and started making boardshorts for the surfers on the beach. All she owned was one portable sewing machine. That's where Country Feeling first started: on the beach. Working on very limited capital, she traded shorts, shirts and other seaside gear with the surfers in return for their help to transform a matchbox-sized garage into the first Jeffreys Bay surf shop. Twenty-seven years later, Cheron has built Country Feeling up into a unique lifestyle and surfing brand. Board rental can be arranged through Country Feeling too.

A unique retail experience: this cluster of surf shops and factory stores has been entertaining visitors since the '80s. The J-Bay Surf Village is an international melting pot of surf and skate culture, home decor, yummy restaurants and pamper spots. A short walk from blue-flag Dolphin Beach, it's an outdoor shopping mall the whole family will want to visit, time and again.
