Punta Roca is El Salvador's best-known wave, a long, powerful right-hand point break over boulders at Puerto de La Libertad. On solid south swells it runs for hundreds of metres with fast, walling sections and barrels, and it is now a WSL Championship Tour venue. It is best for advanced surfers, as the rocks and strong currents punish mistakes. Mornings are offshore with light northerly winds, from March to October.
