La Salvé is Laredo's 4 km town beach, curving along the inside of Santoña bay in eastern Cantabria. The bay and the Santoña headland shelter it from the big Atlantic swells that hit the rest of the coast, so when it breaks the waves are small, soft and slow over flat sand — ideal for first sessions and longboarding. It needs a decent north-west swell to wake up, so it's at its best from autumn to spring, with southerly winds.
